Stones & Water

Stones & Water

I was just going to share this ‘stone painting’ activity on my Facebook Page, but I had a few more photos than I realised, so I thought I might as well post them here too.

Such a simple activity – just stones, water & different sized paintbrushes. Great for fine motor skills, hand-eye co-ordination, perseverance & concentration too…

This was a very popular activity & quite a few children grabbed extra chairs to squeeze  up to the table. I never limit the number of children to an activity (apart from the water tray, but this is because I only have 4 water aprons) – the children are quite used to dragging chairs over or making room for extra bodies if they need to.

The children absolutely loved making patterns…

… before filling them in completely…

Stripes were the favourite pattern…

Bit of balancing here too!…

Once all the stones were totally painted, they waited for them to dry & then started again…

  1. My daughter loves painting with water. I never thought to do it with river rocks like this. Thanks for sharing at the Love to Learn Linky!
