Playing with Pattern

Playing with Pattern

A sneaky mid-week post. We have been having so much fun with pattern over the last 3 days that I couldn’t resist sharing a few photos with you.

.

I’ve seen so many ideas for pattern/art dice that I thought I would make one myself. I used some of the same patterns on my early handwriting pattern cards (downloadable towards the bottom of this post) on a plain wooden cube to do this. I then drew the same patterns on some stones & some small wooden slices.

These were set up along with the pattern dice & also a spotted dice, & I demonstrated to the children how they could throw both to select the patterned stones/wooden slices & make a picture

They loved it!!

.Of course, some ignored the dice & just created pictures…

This little boy said that he was going to make a ‘racing car’ & then proceeded to make lots!

"This is a racing car!" from Rachel

“This is a racing car!”

Just thought I’d share it with you.

See you on Saturday! 😉

  1. Love this idea! What did you use to draw the patterns on the stones? Permanent marker? Paint?

    • I just used a Sharpie pen (permanent marker), Sherri 🙂
