Ocean Play

Ocean Play

The children really enjoyed all the beach activities last week and so we have carried on, but with a bit more of an ‘ocean’ feel…

Exploring Shells

Exploring the shells was super-popular last week but I needed the table we were using, so I moved them to the Discovery Table…

The little fish we used in the beach transient art last week were useful in maths activities this week…

Fine-Motor Fun

This came about when a child decided to balance shells on the golf tee log slice last week. I thought others might like to try, so I put it on the Finger Gym as an activity. They love my natural geoboards so I added them too…

Boat on the Ocean

A similar set-up to when we had our pirate play. They loved this!

Transient Art

This was collaborative work, created by two girls along with myself. We started it as a result of an ‘upset’ and I introduced it as a distraction…

It led to lots of interest from the other children and so I set up a provocation for them to explore on an individual basis…

Ice-Cream Dough

I have done this so many times before (you can see a more elaborate set-up in this post) and hadn’t actually planned on it this time. However, it was a request from two of the girls and so I got out a few resources and let them set it up. We used the (mixed up) ‘ocean dough’ as the ice-cream…

Simple Ocean Table

Interesting shells, stones and pieces of coral. The children loved the addition of the ocean creatures & used them to explore the resources…

  1. Hi Rachel, love your Ocean theme, beautifully presented as always,. Thank you.
I am sure this question has been asked and answered before but I am unable to find it at the moment, but could you tell me which photo programme you use to create your collages please. Looking for one to use in displays. Thanks again.

    • Hi Lorraine. I use a variety of apps, but the one you see the most is ‘Pic Collage’. Really easy to use. Free if you don’t mind the PicCollage logo, but you have to pay (only once) if you want to remove it 🙂
