Family Counters

Family Counters

The wonderful Learning Resources sent me a pack of All About Me Family Counters to use at school. There are 6 characters in 6 different colours and the children have really enjoyed using them. I’m sharing how they’ve been used in our classroom in this post, but we haven’t had them for very long and so have only used them in a few ways so far. Looking forward to using them some more!

Simple Counting

A little support from an adult with this…

Colour Sorting

This just happened naturally as part of their play. I love capturing moments like this…

I thought this was fab – colour sorting and increasing numbers! It had nothing to do with the adults at all!

On the Overhead Projector

You may remember this photo from my Getting to Know Me post… The counters are great on the OHP!

We’ve had them with numbers too…

Transient Art

I put them out on a transient art table along with some colourful loose parts, to see if they would add them to their creations. They look particularly effective on the black background!

Small World Play

A couple of the girls took the cats from the pack to the logs near the small world area…

Light Panel

These were really popular along with rainbow blocks and 3D shapes…

I can’t wait to explore them further. I think they’ll be great with play dough – and maybe they need to venture outdoors…

  3. What do you use for the black background? A black table cloth and black fames? I can’t quite see what it is. Loving this post! Thank you for sharing.

    • Hi there! If you look at the first sentence of the post, it explains that they are from Learning Resources – and if you click on the words, they take you directly to the product 🙂
They are from the UK section of the company, but think they are in America too.

    • Hi Cher,
Click on’All About Me Family Counters’ in the first line of the post and it takes you directly to the place you can purchase them.
If you are not in the UK, I think there is a ‘Learning Resources’ company in the US and there resources are also sold on Amazon 🙂
